2nd Six Weeks
Dear Ms. Langley,
This six weeks was short, so it was stressful trying to fit all my work into this short time period, but other than that it was pretty good. I didn’t feel like it was too much work. As an english student, the workload wasn’t bad either. In the beginning of the six weeks we were on our mini unit about mentors, and we picked a mentor to write an assertion about. The mentor text that i chose was AOC’s house floor speech. You can find it on my wordpress website. Something that I could’ve done better this six weeks was choice reading more. I had just finished a book when the six weeks started and I procrastinated on starting the next book, also because we just started reading Citizen as a class. Next six weeks I definitely want to help build new habits for reading more, and a goal I have is to finish the third book of the series i am reading, which is the harry potter series. I have just started the second book, so i hope i continue on with reading regularly so I can reach my reading goals. Although I haven’t been reading too much in regards to choice reading, I have been reading the book with the class, Citizen. Although we haven’t gotten too deep into the book yet, I can tell that I enjoy reading it. The different types of chapters in the book and the prose style is very interesting and unique. I think it has very important themes and topics in it, although I haven’t read too much to figure out what they are yet. I also think that this book and the meaning behind it is very relevant to today’s society and it’s good that we are reading it during these times. I also enjoy going into break out rooms during class and discussing our thoughts about the chapters. I think everyone’s different ideas and opinions are very insightful. As a writer, I think I have grown from the last six weeks. I think I am getting better at writing assertions, and learning new things about writing styles. My assertions can be found on my wordpress blog also. Overall, I think this has been a pretty good six weeks, and as a student I have been doing my work well in this class.
